If you are concerned with the pain aspect of getting a tattoo for the first time or you would like another tattoo after a previously painful experience; then pain relief is available, however there is a charge and the service cant be offered on a walk in basis, an appointment needs to be made as there are aspects of the process that needs to be discused.

Does it Hurt

Getting tattooed is sometimes painful. This depends on each individual, and the size and location of the tattoo.

A positive approach to the tattoo will help hugely. The first few minutes of any tattoo is normally a little sore, however this soon subsides.
We wouldn't recommend that you take any form of pain relief (paracetomol, anadin etc) as this will cause excessive bleeding which isn't condusive to a well healed tattoo. The body secretes its own painkiller called endorphines, which kicks in during the shading process, and the area will go numb.

The pain of laser tattoo removal is similar to that of a tattoo being applied. Again, this depends on the size, location, etc of the tattoo.

Application

Tattoos are created by putting coloured pigment into the dermis (live skin). This creates a hot sensation during the application and for a few hours afterward the immediate area can feel hot as the skin recovers. The needles used are of various sizes and types, the tattoo artist will chose specific needles for each individual tattoo. These are disposed of after EVERY tattoo. artisit.jpgSo, applying a tattoo properly takes much more than just the ability to draw or paint. A professional tattooist has to primarily be an artist, however they are also technicians and craftsmen. All top quality tattoo artist have been apprenticed and are skilled practioners. There are amatuers based at home; these are not registered and your health is at risk if you utilize there abilities.
